Date Change for HCI

Dear LUMC family, The Healthy Church Initiative Vision Team wants to make you aware of a recent scheduling change. Our HCI coach Bill Lewis has offered to provide two excellent educational experiences aimed at strengthening our ministries and making our mission work more organized and effective. As noted in the December Appleseed newsletter, the first program is named “Living Your Strengths” and the second is name “The Advantage”. Invited to Website

Church is invited to participate in the writing of the new church website. Uninvited In September a group of women from the La Crescent area started on a new book study called “Uninvited.”  This ecumenical group of women meets every other week to study a Christian book on living the life Jesus expects of us. This study has given me time to think on the topic of being uninvited. How easy it is to feel uninvited! Coincidentally enough a few weeks ago, Pastor also spoke on rejection from a bit of a different......

Pastor at pulpit with the vision statement on the screen behind him.

Hello Church Family, the HCI team has worked hard over the last several months on a vision statement. Much of the info here comes from submitted information. As you read along, you’ll find that I decided to include a link to today’s sermon from Pastor as he introduced us to our new vision. Vision Statement We are happy to report that at our last Healthy Church Initiative meeting on September 29th, our Vision Team (which has expanded in recent months to include Mindy Kearney and several more church council members) decided enthusiastically......

What's HCI been up To?

As we move back toward cooler weather, the new school year, and into the upcoming holiday season some of you may be wondering what the HCI team has been up to over the summer. And boy have we been busy! The HCI team has been meeting regularly over the summer with and without our Coach, Bill Lewis.  First and foremost we have......

Website Celebrates 1 Month

The fledgling tech committee has been busy in the past year, and we have a new website, a more active Facebook presence, new technology in the sanctuary, and automatic live-streaming and updates to the youtube page. It’s a Website! On August 16, the La Crescent United Methodist Church “gave birth” to a new website. It took about 9 months for a group of dedicated but not-technologically gifted volunteers to work with Sleeping Giant Studios to update and re-do our website. We give many thanks to Peter Bell for his hard work in......

La Crescent Lunch Wagon makes UMC Conference Agenda

La Crescent UMC was a focus of one of the videos shown. In August of 2015 a video crew from MN Annual Conference came to La Crescent to record the story of the lunch wagon. This year at the Annual Conference meeting, the conference showed this video of how we join together with the rest of the community to feed children. This isn’t just a story of those on free and reduced lunch. It is a story of feeding all kinds of children healthy lunches of meat and cheese sandwiches, fresh fruit......
