Mission Trip Fundraiser Breakfasts

Mission Trippers We had a really great mission trip meeting for senior high students last Wednesday that generated some new ideas for fundraising – breakfast before church! The first FUNdraiser we are doing is a hot breakfast before church. We are looking for 5-7 youth and their parents to help make some of the breakfast items, as well as serve and clean up. Tyler or Alexa will be heading this up each time we do it with a small number of kids so the rest can attend Sunday School that week. This will......

Chicken-Q

What comes once a year, smells and tastes delicious, requires over 40 volunteers of all ages to put on, and generates a lot of “buzz” in the community and our church?  It must be the Annual Applefest Chicken Que! History Each year, for many years, LUMC has been hosting a chicken que at the fest grounds of Applefest.  Back in the 90’s, the men of our church cooked chickens over grills, with a “special” basting sauce and people like Sheri and Mike Wert helped coordinate pie baking and selling, home made BBQ......

Website Celebrates 1 Month

The fledgling tech committee has been busy in the past year, and we have a new website, a more active Facebook presence, new technology in the sanctuary, and automatic live-streaming and updates to the youtube page. It’s a Website! On August 16, the La Crescent United Methodist Church “gave birth” to a new website. It took about 9 months for a group of dedicated but not-technologically gifted volunteers to work with Sleeping Giant Studios to update and re-do our website. We give many thanks to Peter Bell for his hard work in......
